The 2 main principles:

1. Don't eat where you shit
2. Don't shit where you eat

Try to use use separate accounts for separate sites.
Always use separate passwords for separate sites.
Never trust any online services, this includes but not limited to foreign SMTP and XMPP servers.
Always use end-to-end encryption when using XMPP, this is to ensure that even if the XMPP server you are using is compromised the data exchanged will remain encrypted.
Never share your timezone or any other information that can be an indicator of your whereabouts.
Always run tor on Tails or at least a separate OS where you have no spyware such as discord installed and store only your keys and passwords there.
Keep encrypted copies of your keys and passwords in separate HDDs/SDDs in case lost/corrupted.
Always use TOR bridges if accessing TOR in a private location.
Never use the same persona on clearnet, including but not limited to name, profile picture, passwords etc..
You are always advised to use a VPN but a VPN can be a double edged sword as most VPN providers log user activity. It's crucial you use a reputable VPN that doesn't log anything. Keep a VPN always running. Never use free VPNs.
If you are planning on hosting your own SMTP or XMPP server, never purchase the server with your own credentials. There's sites that resell VPSes you can buy with crypto.
Never buy crypto with your own credentials
